/ Architecture? Where Art Thou?

Paul Virilio, a cultural theorist and urbanist, best known for his writings about technology as it has developed in relation to speed and power was interviewed by Andreas Ruby (15 October 1993) on his views of Architecture in the age of its(virtual) disappearance.



Some interesting points raised.




Again like John Beckmann, Paul Virilio too speaks of radical change of dimensions in the virtual world. its disappearance or lack of thereof seems to be a crucial element. However, his opinion differs in the existence of its state. He believes space of the future will exist in both worlds.

But as we all know virtual reality is challenging the very concept of space itself. Transition from the three-dimensional to a sequential space transforms our perception.

Could these transformations of space make architecture 'disappear'?
